Tips for keeping a clean home with pets

Man’s best friend is a wonderful family addition, but can also put a damper on a clean home. Pets bring pesky odors, dirt, extra hair and create their own messes by tearing apart rubbish and not holding their bladder while inside.

Here are easy tips to keep a clean home while living with pets

Neutralize Odors. Invest in an enzyme based cleaner to neutralize unwanted odors in your carpet. Neutralizing the odor rather than covering it up with other scents will make a world of a difference.

Fresh Air. It’s not all about covering up odors – you’ll be surprised to find how effective it is to crack open your windows to let fresh air in your home.

Brush Outdoors. When it comes time to groom your pet, take them outside to be brushed. Specialized brushes for hairy pets are created to grab all layers of their coat which makes for a big, furry mess. You’ll want that fuzz ball outdoors rather than in your home.

Bath Time. Good hygiene practices aren’t only for humans. Depending on your pet’s habits (do they typically lounge by the window or are they constantly finding mud to roll in?) set them on a scheduled bathing routine.

Toy Box. Most people love their pets and spoil them with a set of toys. Like playful children, pets are known to scatter the toys across the floor which can be unsightly. Purchase a visually appealing toy box to the store unused toys in. Not only will your floors be clean but the toy box will double as décor.

Lint Rollers. As a pet owner, a lint roller kept in your home, car and even office will come as a saving grace. Even if a pet stays off the furniture and you vacuum daily, pet hair will still find a way to grab onto your clothing.
