Real estate company Hoang Anh Gia Lai has opened its latest overseas development – a five-star hotel in Yangon, Myanmar.
The hotel (pictured) is located in Myanmar Center, eight kilometers from downtown Yangon in Bahan Township.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai focuses on both residential and commercial real estate in principal economic centers, including Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. It has also been expanding regionally, with real estate projects in Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.
Myanmar Center is a development of offices, retail, residential units and the five-star hotel, with a total investment of US$ 440 million, according to Vo Truong Son, General Director of HAGL Group who spoke at last weekend’s inauguration ceremony.
The project is divided into two phases. The first consists of two grade ‘A’ office towers, one retail podium and the five-star hotel while the second comprises two further grade ‘A’ office towers and five residential blocks.
Operated by Spanish hotel chain Meliá Hotels International, the five-star Meliá Yangon was inaugurated on Sunday. It has some 430 suites and 2,000 sqm of conference facilities.
Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and senior officials from Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia also attended the opening ceremony.
